Between 2001 and 2004, I was the touring keyboard
player, harmony vocalist, and all-purpose spiritual advisor for The
Long Winters. While I was in the band, we made two records for Barsuk,
the first of which, The Worst You Can Do is Harm, I also
co-produced. We also did a lot of touring—several times across
America and twice across Europe—sharing bills and adventures
with many of my very favorite bands (including Centro-Matic, Death
Cab for Cutie, Nada Surf, Enon, Clem Snide, the Pernice Brothers,
and Brendan Benson), a few of which you can read about in the Writing section.
I highly recommend that you buy both Long Winters records, go see
them live, and spend some quality time checking out their splendid
website, www.thelongwinters.com.
